Sabbath Moments

Sunrise-Myrtle

It’s a cold and icy morning here in my neighborhood, one of those mornings where you want to stay warm in bed for a bit longer.

Sadly, I’m already up and running, since today is going to be a very busy day for me.  I’ve been traveling the past couple of weeks, and I’m slowly trying to catch up, in addition to the daily stuff that waits for my attention.  I’m sure you experience the same thing all the time.

Well, for at least a minute or two, let’s all pause and say a quick prayer today.  Someone recently sent me a little holy card with this prayer written by Pat Bergen on the front.

Gracious God,
Thank you for the gift of today.
Refresh me.  Invite me to discover your presence
In each and every person that I meet
And every event that I encounter.
Teach me when to speak and when to listen.
When to ponder and when to share.
In moments of challenge and decision
Attune my heart to the whisperings of your wisdom.
As I undertake ordinary and unnoticed tasks,
Gift me with simple joy.
When my days goes well, may I rejoice.
When it grows difficult, surprise me with
new possibilities.
When life seems overwhelming, call me to
Sabbath moments
To restore your peace and harmony.
May my living today reveal your goodness.
Amen
