Fresh Starts

We started our Freshmen Retreat today in the little chapel to the left of this photo.  Known as Little Baker Chapel, people have been praying here since the late 1800’s, and today was our chance to continue the tradition.

The place was packed as our new participants in Campus Ministry joined with their parents and a small group of student leaders who will be responsible for the retreat.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen the place so crowded.  It was great.

Because my men’s group also meets tonight, I couldn’t stay too long, but I’ll have my chance to get to know them tomorrow.  What a great group of kids.  What a nice group of parents.  I know this fresh start that we experienced today will set the stage for a wonderful year.

As I was leaving the campus, I saw some parents saying their goodbyes.  I’m sure there was a mixture of sadness and joy, not to mention a bit of anxiety thrown in.  I watched them in my rearview mirror until I turned the corner and they were gone.  Another fresh start has begun.  It will be fun to see where it will lead, and so far, I’m happily optimistic. I pray that it be a great year!

I'm passionate about helping people realize that God wants to make something new of them and bring about a permanent transformation in their lives: body, mind, and spirit.
