I hope you had a peaceful weekend. I know it might have been hard to resist an all out assault on your Christmas shopping, but there will be plenty of time for that.
I have to admit that I did jump online last night and found some great deals. All from the comfort of my little home office. In fact, I’m sticking to my guns about getting fewer presents this year. Each one will be chosen with more care, and I’m watching what I’m spending very closely.
Instead of spending my weekend in the mall, I spent quite a bit of time outdoors. The weather has been wonderful in my area, and Saturday found me walking the trails of a local environmental center. We won’t have too many more days like we’ve been having, so my friend and I wanted to take full advantage. A lot of other people had the same idea, and we saw far more people out on the trails than we’ve seen in the past. Usually, we never see anyone else. I’m glad people decided to get to exercise in.
Last night, my men’s group listened to a cd presentation on Advent. It was really good. What made it better was having coffee and slices of apple and cranberry pie. Usually, we just have water and pretzels. This is my doing, since the group meets at my house and there’s no room in the budget for loads of snacks. That being said, I had picked up one of those pies from a local farm store, and it was so good, I decided it would be a nice splurge for the guys. It was, and it didn’t take long for it to be consumed.
In order to make these days of Advent more meaningful, I’m working on being more intentional about what I do. I want to bring more peace into my life, along with a good dose of joy into the lives of those around me. Simple, thought out choices can make it happen for all of us. What a way to spend the next few weeks. 🙂
