It’s Not Too Late

Ah, the dog days of summer.  Vacations are winding down.  School will be starting soon. Some college students are already back on campus.

Even though the days are still hot, have you noticed that the evenings are starting to get cooler?  And so it goes…Someone was talking with me yesterday, and she mentioned that it used to seem like summer would go on forever, and by August, she was ready to get back to her normal rhythm of life.  Now, it feels like she’s busy year-round, with no real recovery time.  I guess we can chalk it up to the times in which we live.

That being said, we all need time to recharge.  Even though the summer is almost over, it’s not too late to find some time to relax.  Maybe you can get away for the weekend, or it could simply be taking a Saturday or Sunday to go to the park, visiting a museum, or finding a new book to read in your back yard.

Do you have an old friend you haven’t spoken to in a while?  Make plans to visit them, even if it’s for a couple of hours.  I did this recently with some elderly friends.  I only had about two hours, but it was wonderful to catch up, share a simple meal, and just be present to one another.

Our summer weather will be around for another month or so.  It’s not to late to take advantage of these warm days.  What relaxing activities are you already dreaming about?
