Thinking Spring

I know.  Fall isn’t even officially here yet, and I’m already writing about spring.  Well, in my book, it’s good to plan ahead.

And if you want your spring to be especially beautiful, now is the time to act.  Most spring-blooming flowers have to be planted soon in order for them to settle in before the ground freezes.

Another benefit of thinking about spring, at least for me, is that it takes my mind off of all the craziness going on in our world today, especially surrounding the upcoming presidential election.  Just get this over with, please.  We’ll be clawing ourselves out of this mess for years to come, regardless of who gets elected.

Yesterday was the first day that it really felt like fall.  The air was crisp and cool in the morning and evening.  My kind of weather.  Last night, I began thinking about what bulbs I’m going to put in.  I have a few heirloom varieties that need to be supplemented, and I have to get this via the internet, so I better get moving to see if there’s any to be had.

Friends, to me nothing shouts renewal and rebirth quite as much as spring.  After what’s expected to be a long, snowy winter, I’m already anticipating those first signs of new life peeking up through the thawing soil.  Talking about a depression lifter 🙂

Even if you’ve never planted a bulb, or had any desire to, get yourself a little (or big) bag of bulbs this year.  You don’t have to spend a lot of money, and, last I saw, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc., have plenty of varieties on hand, just crying out to be purchased.

Follow the instructions on the bag, dig the holes deep, and sprinkle in a little bone meal for fertilizer.  Next spring, as people drive by your house, gazing adoringly at the fruit of your fall labor, you’ll rejoice that you read this little blog post and followed through.  See,  He’s making all things new 🙂

God bless your day!
