Living For Today

Recently, I’ve picked up on a lot of anxiety amongst the people I interact with. Just about everyone seems to be nervous about something, but mostly people are concerned about the future.

We sure seem to be in a mess, whether as individuals or as a society.  Just when we think there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, something else happens and it seems like we’re right back to square one.

So, how to we try to shed ourselves of our anxiety about the future?  Certainly, some people’s circumstances are serious, and there is much to process.  But for others, they are concerned about many things that are out of their control.  How can we all be less anxious?  Jesus had something to say on the matter.

Begin With Today

Wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying as beautiful day as we have in Maryland. It is really starting to feel like spring, and I had the chance to do a little yard work this morning.  There us much to do, and it will take quite a few weeks to get things back in shape.

On a happy note, as I cleaned up  and fertilized around my azaleas and hollies in the front of my house, I saw all the tulips and daffodils just beginning to break the soil.  It won’t be long now.

Have Some Peanuts

I know this sounds like an odd title for a post, but I just wanted to get the word out there.  The humble peanut, when consumed in moderation, has a lot of health benefits.  I’m grateful for this, because, well, I love peanuts.

What are peanuts?

Did you know that peanuts are not considered part of the nut family? Yes, it’s true. Even though nut is a part of their name, Peanuts actually members of the legume family related to peas, lentils, chickpeas and other beans.

Legumes are edible seeds enclosed in pods. As a group, they provide the best source of concentrated protein in the plant kingdom.   Maybe that’s why I’m always pushing lentils on this blog 🙂 In comparison to similar foods, peanuts contain more protein than any other legume or nut.  So, the question is: are peanuts good for you?
