Begin With Today

Wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying as beautiful day as we have in Maryland. It is really starting to feel like spring, and I had the chance to do a little yard work this morning.  There us much to do, and it will take quite a few weeks to get things back in shape.

On a happy note, as I cleaned up  and fertilized around my azaleas and hollies in the front of my house, I saw all the tulips and daffodils just beginning to break the soil.  It won’t be long now.

As I was working, I was kicking myself for not having done a better clean-up in the fall.  I remember being so busy that I didn’t have time to do anything.  Now, it’s  a bit overwhelming.  I also wished I had put fresh bulbs in.  And I should have gotten a heavy layer of mulch down.  Should have, could have, didn’t 🙁

When it’s all said and done, it doesn’t do any good to focus on what we didn’t get accomplished.  Good old hindsight!  We can’t undo the past.   The only advantage in looking back is to learn to do better in the future.

The point is, Begin with today. You can’t change the past.  You can only change the future, and we all have the chance today to begin creating the future we want.

Right now, I’m focused on improving my garden.  I want to have a great vegetable garden this year.  I plan to get some great new plants for the small area next to my pergola.  It’s been a long winter, and to heck with the calendar.  In my mind, spring begins today.

What’s on your to do list?
