The Full Plate Diet

Looking for one more gift for someone special?  Someone you really care about?  Consider picking them up a copy of The Full Plate Diet.

This New York Times bestseller isn’t pushing some fad diet.  Instead, it’s about getting back to basics. The whole premise is that we can lose weight and feel better by eating more fiber.

The authors cite several major studies which show those who eat a diet rich in fiber can reduce the risk of developing cancer by 30-40%, help diabetics keep their blood sugars under control, and lower the risk of heart attack and strokes by up to 40%.

Two of the coolest sections of the book are Top Five and the Fiber Face Off. In the Top Five, the authors list out the tope five fiber rich foods in the following categories:  fruit, vegetables, beans, nuts, and grains.

The Fiber Face Off section gives tips on how to make everyday food items more fiber-rich.  For example, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on wheat bread has 2 grams of fiber.  By using double fiber grain bread, crunchy peanut butter and adding a sliced banana, you can increase the amount of fiber to 18 grams:) That’s just one example among many.

The goal of the diet is to get us to a daily intake of 40 grams of fiber a day.  This book makes that goal obtainable by showing the reader, in a simple and easy to read format, how to choose the most fiber rich foods on a daily basis.

If it sounds like this is just the thing you’ve been waiting for, you have three options:

  • Buy a hard cover copy  for $13.57 plus shipping through Amazon (I’m an affiliate site)
  • Get an online copy of the book for free (you have to give them your name, email, etc.).
  • Listen to an abridged audio copy for free (you have to give them your name, email, etc.).

The Full Plate Diet was the brainchild of a non-profit organization called the Lifestyle Center of America. Their goal is to help us all, especially those with diabetes, get ourselves in better shape so that we can live long, healthy and happy lives.  They are worth checking out.

Hi Paul!
Thanks for the plug 🙂 I did this last year for many of my family members. Wasn’t sure how they would take getting a “diet” book, but I’m blown away at how many healthier choices they make. They’d send me a picture of their meal or an email about how their health has improved. I wasn’t sure they even read it, but evidently they did. I simply wrote in their Christmas card that I would be sending them a book and wish them a healthy New Year 🙂 They all loved it!
I wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Thanks Amy! A group of us at work are going to go on the diet right after the holidays. I’ll be posting our progress on the blog. Merry Christmas to you too:)
