Inspiration Soups and Stews Vegetarian

Autumn

On the way home from lunch on Friday, I took one of my friends to our local Trader Joe’s.  She’s never been to one, and since it was on the way and I needed a few things, we made the stop.

One of the items on my shopping list was a re-supply of their 17 Bean & Barley Soup Mix I blogged about the other day. In fact, I bought several bags for my co-workers who asked me to pick a bag up for them.

Well, in my neck of the woods, it’s getting dark earlier and the sun is coming up later. Tonight, the air is cool and damp.  The leaves are changing quickly and now include brilliant reds and yellows.  Nature is showing us that things are changing once again.

Its time to stock up on the hearty fare that comes with the change of seasons.  Great soups, and stews, things that stick to your ribs. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting ready.  There are some great soup/stew cookbooks out there, and I have a few posted under the Things I like tab to the right.  Most are available at your public library.  Check them out!

Please forgive me for even thinking it, but this afternoon, as I was putting my purchases in the pantry, I thought about how nice it will be to have a big pot of soup going when the first snowfall appears.  I hope I have to wait a long, long time 🙂
