Don’t Give Up

We all have moments when we want to throw in the towel.  I had that experience on the second week of my fitness challenge at the YMCA.  The leaders were very disorganized, and we were given conflicting information about what we were supposed to be doing.

Just about everyone was frustrated.  I started thinking that I could do this on my own, and that I didn’t need the hassle of participating in something that was not what I was expecting.  Now, in week five, I’m glad I stuck it out.  It would have been far easier to quit, but I don’t think I would have been able to achieve the results I have if I had gone it alone.

It seems like many people I know are in frustrating situations.  Some are seeking jobs and finding few available.  Others are going through relationship problems. Still others are dealing with health and/or financial difficulties.  More than one just has a hard time getting out of bed and making it through the day.

Don’t give up.  As Archbishop Fulton Sheen used to remind us, Life is worth living. No matter what your situation is, bring God into it.  So many times our frustrations find their root in our desire to go it alone.  When we try to figure it all out by ourselves, we usually end up wanting to quit.

If you’re struggling with some issue today, take some time and pray about it.  Get some help, whether from a professional, someone in ministry, or just a trusted friend.

God doesn’t want us stuck where we are.  He wants to make something new.  A new day is dawning right outside your window.  Take advantage of it.

I'm passionate about helping people realize that God wants to make something new of them and bring about a permanent transformation in their lives: body, mind, and spirit.

Perseverance and not giving up are very important, as is support from people around you, whoever they are. In the end however, it is still always your own decision and your own motivation that will get you going. It was your decision to attend, your decision to follow through, and also your decision to get some support from other participants and friends. As someone once said: you have to do it yourself, but you can’t do it alone.
We are meant to move onwards and forward and grow, and right now a new day begins here where I am, with new opportunities!
