Thinking Ahead

something is going on with WordPress. I can’t post my picture of tulips from my garden. You’ll have to use your imagination 🙂

I can’t fault my mother.  She purchased her spring bulbs last week, and too early for her region, planted the bulbs with the help of my brother.  Hopefully, next spring she will bask in the beauty that is hard to see in those little shriveled up nuggets.

I started receiving bulb catalogs in the mail at the end of August.  If you’re a gardener like my mom and me, these catalogs immediately transport you right through fall and winter.  Turn the pages and move directly to spring.  Well, it’s nice to dream a bit, isn’t it?

At work this week, our maintenance man announced his retirement.  He said he simply could not take another winter like we had last year.  Who can blame him?  You would have thought we were living out on the Alaskan tundra.  During those snowy days, I think we were all dreaming of warmer spring days.

In case we have another crazy winter, I’m going to be ordering more bulbs than I ever have. Just knowing there are hundreds of Fortissimo narcissus, Bastogne triumph tulips, La Courtine single late tulips and plenty of a wide range of Daffodils, will make the winter go a bit quicker.

Of course, in order to have all these beautiful flowers next spring, I have to plan now.  I have to get moving, almost eight months in advance if the vision I have will come to fruition.  If I don’t exert the effort, nothing’s going to happen.

Whether you’re a gardener or not, thinking ahead is a good thing.  Whatever your goals are, start putting some things into place so you’ll be able to achieve them.  It’s never to early to start thinking about the future.  It will be here before you know it 🙂
