Over the last few weeks, I've begun a process of de-cluttering. Sometimes stressful, but more and more therapeutic as I decide what to hold on to. Wow, we collect a lot of stuff when we stay put for a long time. As I've moved through it all, I found just how little is really worth keeping. So, out to the trash for most of it.Through the process, I've come across a number of little journal...

I was leading a youth group trip out to Arizona, and one of the highlights was staying at a hotel on the rim of the Grand Canyon. One one particular morning, a few of us got up very early and walked over to the El Tovar Hotel. The restaurant was just opening, and through the large windows overlooking the canyon, we could see that it was going to be a glorious day. Shortly after we were seated,...

Wow, two posts back to back. Pretty exciting, huh? When I saw that Loyola Press is once again offering a 31 day sampling of Ignatian Spirituality, starting today, how could I not let you know about it?If you've been on this blog for a while, you might remember that many of the readers here took advantage of this cool immersion opportunity last year. In one of my courses this semester, we've been asked to pray the Examen prayer of St. Ignatius for a few days, then provide a little discussion board post about our reaction to it.Well, as many of you know, this was an easy exercise for me. I've been praying with the Examen on a daily basis for several years, and it's helped me immensely on my spiritual journey. I know it can be the same for...

I've been away this past week, and it was good to get home yesterday afternoon. I'm sure my neighbors appreciated my lawn finally being cut :) Anyway, I had a lot of reading to do, and it was great to sit outside, enjoying the beautiful weather we are having right now in my area. Today the Church celebrates Pentecost, the moment the Holy Spirit fell upon the first band of Christians.

Just the other day, I came across something in our local Catholic newspaper that got me excited. The article was about a gentleman who was changing jobs at a Jesuit High School in Baltimore, and he said that one of his tasks at the school was to integrate St. Ignatius' Cura Personalis into the daily activities of the school. So, just what isCura Personalis you ask? It's Latin forcare for the...

My next door neighbor made a comment to me last week that I've been happily pondering ever since. She said she is always amazed that from early spring to late fall, I have something blooming in my yard. My mother would be proud, since this was a goal she always worked towards and she instilled the same desire in me.This morning, as the sun was coming up, I took this photo of the irises growing...

For the last three days, I've been trying to find the time to get this post up. Between work, school, and keeping up with yard work, I've barely had two minutes. Until now.A few days ago, I posted on the Ignatian principle ofFinding God In All Things. Over the last several years, I've been able to successfully integrate this spiritual concept into my daily living. Well, most days...
