Sorry for the pause in my posts. I'm still getting over a bug I picked up, and the antibiotics have been slow to kick in.We've finally gotten some snow on the ground in my neck of the woods, and, gratefully, it hasn't been too much so as to cause a lot of problems. Snow is actually a very calming force in nature. I love the way it covers everything, gently reminding the viewer of how much we...

Back to the grind. I hope you enjoyed the long weekend, and that you're now ready to tackle the challenges ahead. My New Year's Day was off to a great start. I had a peaceful and prayerful morning, and later a good friend came over to talk about our hopes and goals for the year ahead. We had both established some pretty heavy-duty expectations, but at the same time we were excited to talk about...

Happy New Year! I'm so grateful to have survived 2011, and am certainly ready to launch into 2012. How about You? That being said, 2011 was a great year for Making All Things New. I received a nice little year-end summary last night from the folks at WordPress, the blogging platform I use.Much to my amazement, this blog had hits from the following countries: United States, Canada, United...

Today was the day my retreat was supposed to end. Although I had to come home early, I guess you could say that I've remained in retreat mode. There has been a lot to ponder about 2011. Lots of difficult situations, but also plenty of grace-filled moments. Overall, I'm ready to move on. How about you?

It's been a long time since I've offered you a guest post on Making All Things New. Once again, my friend Todd Burrier had a really good and simple message recently, and I thought it was worth sharing with you.As I've mentioned a couple of times over the last few weeks, these days of Advent are a wonderful time to be a bit introspective, looking at where we've been this past year, and laying...

I was talking with a friend the other night, and he was asking for my help on Thanksgiving night. He needed me to go with him to a couple of the big stores in our area which are starting Black Fridaya bit early.I understand where he's coming from. He has little kids, and they have long wish lists. I told him I would help, but I had to admit that I haven't gone shopping on Thanksgiving or Black...

I had the chance to have lunch with a young friend today. He's been working on finding a job for several months now, and he's finally gotten an offer. I was really happy for him, and to celebrate, I took him to a local Italian restaurant. It will take some time for him to actually start, but right now, the offer letter is something to get excited about.

This past Monday, I had to drop off a group of students at a retreat center not too far from my church. As I was driving up Route. 140, which was already a critical road when Westminster, where I live and work, was founded in 1764, I spotted this sign. How could it not catch my eye :)

three-minute retreat. But the last week has been rather tumultuous, and even though I needed to be praying more than ever, in hindsight I missed plenty of opportunities, which included taking just three minutes to use this devotional. I'm sure you can relate.Today, I went to Loyola's site and learned that they had come up with a really great way to get immersed in Ignatian Spirituality. They're...
