Well, it’s taken me about a year and a half, but today is my four hundredth post.  When you have nothing else to do one day, please go through my archives here at Making All Things New.  I think there’s a ton of good content on this site, and I hope you’ll find something that impacts you.

This blog is a labor of love, and it’s been a lot of fun to do.  I can’t wait for what’s ahead, and I hope you’ll stick with me 🙂

Several weeks ago, I mentioned that I was getting ready to start a new endeavor.  Well, today’s the day I want to roll it out.  First, a little background.

In the spring of this year, I found myself wanting to start something new.  Things weren’t going so well, and I’ve always found that doing something new usually boosts my spirit.  I decided to jump into the world of personal development, and I ordered a series of cds and dvd’s from Tony Robbins.  The program I ordered was called The Ultimate Edge, and I kind of hate to admit it, but what attracted me to this particular offering was that you could try it out, risk free, for 30 days.  I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so this was perfect.

Other than the Dale Carnegie books that I’ve mentioned before, I really never dabbled much into the area of personal development.  When the package came from Tony Robbins, I was very impressed.  In fact, overall, I liked everything I heard and read. This was good stuff, but ultimately, I got what I needed and returned the kit before the bill came due.  Let’s face it, times are tough. Sorry, Tony. 🙁

Included in the program was the opportunity to participate in a free Life Coaching session.  What’s Life Coaching, you ask?  Well, the best definition that I’ve heard so far is that a Life Coach provides a bridge from where you are to where you want to be.  That sounded interesting, so I set up my appointment.

Basically, a Life Coach helps their client set goals and objectives, then keeps them on track as they implement and achieve them.  Kind of like having someone call you every week after you’ve decided what your New Year’s Resolutions are going to be.  Most of us forget about them around the third week in January, so having a coach might really be helpful.

During my session with a coach from Tony Robbins, she stopped me as I was reviewing the three goals she had asked me to prepare.  Have you ever thought about being a Life Coach?, she asked.  Well, up until I got the kit, I had never heard of Life Coaching before. She then went on to say that, from all the background info I had given her, I had been doing Life Coaching for years, I just never called it that.

In my job at a large Catholic Church, I talk to a lot of people.  I’ve been blessed to have been there for several years, so many of the people I now mentor have known me since they were in high school.  Life Coaching is different from mentoring, however, but I’ll save that for another post.  In fact, I think this post will have to be broken into a couple of different parts, so you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out what happened next…
