I guess you have to take what you can get :)
We've had such intense heat and humidity lately, I wish I had been with them. In fact, I would have longed for a touch of the coolness that comes with foggy days. Of course, all this got me thinking about some of those situations in life that can also be shrouded in a kind of fog.
When we find ourselves in situations that lack clarity, that make us a little uncomfortable, it might feel like we're in a kind of daze, and things just aren't as clear as we'd like. A good example of this is when you are driving on a foggy day. You know where you're going, in fact you might be driving on your own street, yet, you can't see much ahead of you and it makes you nervous.
Many times when I've had this experience, its been in the early morning, not too long after the sun has come up. As I'm driving (carefully), the heat of the sun slowly burns off the fog, and my level of comfortability gets back to normal.
If you find yourself with some issue in your life that lacks clarity and seems a bit shrouded in fog, don't panic. There's some simple things you can do to quickly rectify the situation.
- Try and think it through. What aspects of the situation are making things unclear. Break them down one by one, and tackle them individually.
- Pray about it. Ask the Lord to lift the fog and bring some much-needed light, so that you can discern what you need to do.
- Bring another person in to help. This could be a relative or trusted friend. Maybe a professional, such as a doctor or counselor might be needed.
There's a funny thing about fog. It never lasts very long. The warmth of the sun is usually all it takes to slowly (or quickly) burn off the haze, and the ability to see clearly once again returns.
I think it's the same for those various situations in life that seem to lack clarity. Prayer and conversation is usually all it takes to see clearly once again.
