Yesterday, a little girl I know missed her last day of school :( Diagnosis: chickenpox and poison ivy. How could one person be so lucky?
When her mom told me the news, I knew there would be some drama surrounding the fact that she wouldn't be able to say goodbye to her teacher and friends. So, I jumped in the car and picked up some flowers for her.
I think she was more interested in the cartoon that she was watching than the flowers, but that didn't matter. The fact that I tried to make her day a little better was what was important.
Friends, we will each be given several chances today to make it a good day, whether it be for you personally, or for someone else. It doesn't take much. A smile or kind word might be all that is needed.
Don't let today slip into tomorrow without making at least one attempt at lightening things up, lending a helping hand, offering hope. Whatever it might be for you, do it.
When the sun comes up each and every day, we start again. No matter what we are facing, we can find at least one reason to trust that it's going to be a good day. Enjoy it :)
