Its Never Too Late

There’s a popular Christian song that’s getting a lot of airtime right now.  By Toby Mac, the title is “Get Back Up” and, although it’s not what I would call easy listening, it’s very catchy and I think most people would like it.  The YouTube video is below for anyone who wants a look.  But the beat of the song is not important.  It’s the lyrics of the refrain that resonated with me, and I’m hoping it will be the same for you.

We lose our way,
We get back up again
It’s never too late to get back up again,
One day you will shine again,
You may be knocked down,
But not out forever,
Lose our way,
We get back up again,
So get up, get up,
You gonna shine again,
Never too late to get back up again,
You may be knocked down,
But not out forever
[May be knocked down but not out forever]

As best I can tell, the lyrics seem to speak about infidelity.  That being said, I think the song fits with a lot of issues many of us face.

The words to the refrain above can fit just about any circumstance.  I know so many people who have been down in the dumps lately.  Be it work, home, kids, relationships, money worries, health issues, unemployment or underemployment, addictions or grief, a lot of folks are feeling a bit weighed down, a bit lost.

But life is worth living!  Mother Theresa used to say the difference between a sinner and a saint is that the saint kept getting up.  The words to this song are a reminder that we are meant to shine, not crushed by burdens and problems.  Its time to get back up again.

Baby steps.  That’s right, make a plan and start taking baby steps.  Visit with a friend.  Talk to a priest or minister or counselor.  Talk things out.  It’s never too late to get back up again.  With God, all things are possible 🙂
