It is the Lord

sun boatIt seems like Easter is quickly becoming a distant memory, doesn't it?

I don't know about you, but I seem to be always trying to catch up.  Maybe its work, a missed call from a friend, just paying the bills.  It can be hard to focus on events of two weeks ago when I have a million things to do today.

In the midst of that busyness, we can sometimes miss some important teachable moments.  It was that way for the disciples after Jesus' resurrection.  John tells us (John 21:1-14) that seven had gone out fishing, maybe in an effort to clear their heads so they could figure out just what happened in the weeks before.  Maybe they were trying to figure out what to do next.

It was John who realized it first.  "It is the Lord."  Peter quickly jumped out of the boat and swam to the shore, with the other disciples following close behind in the boat.

How often do we fail to see the Lord in our midst?  How often to we not recognize his voice calling out to us?   And yet, he is in our midst, and he is calling out to us, each and every day.

Despite our very busy lives, let's be open to the Lord today.  When you least expect it, you might just find yourself repeating John's words, "it is the Lord."  Wouldn't that make your day?
